2009 Tour Guides

The Friends of Old Saint Thomas is a parish ministry that is entirely volunteer.  Some of its tasks require little or no experience or training; others are more specialized and need experienced hands.  Although much of the work must be done on site, some can be done at home.  Some of these tasks are individual; some are group activities.  Your help would be much appreciated.  All work is under the umbrella of the FOST Core Committee, which also needs more participants.  In all cases, additional dependable persons are needed to insure the future of FOST and its mission.  FOST hosts an annual Volunteers’ Breakfast in the Fall.

The FOST Guides

1.  conduct public tours of Old Saint Thomas and Ivy Mills historic sites on the fourth Sundays of each month, 1 PM – 4 PM, June through October  (last tours begin at 3:45 PM);

2.  conduct private tours by appointment;

3.  conduct student tours for Saint Thomas School 4th and 8th grade students.

Guides take part in a training session at the start of each public tour “season”.  Each Guide receives a full set of Guide instruction materials, including a detailed set of notes for both Old Saint Thomas and Ivy Mills.  Guides commit to one or more Tour dates during the public tour “season”, and help with special tours as needed.  Guides are invited to all FOST events, and are invited along with all other Volunteers to the annual Fall Volunteer Breakfast.

New Guides are always welcome!  No experience needed.  For more information, please click on these items below:
